Part of the manuscripts is in staff notation, the other in tablature.
By far the most widespread piece in these sources consists of various versions of a theme, sometimes entitled “Ballet”, “Prelude”, “Gavotte” or “Allemande” and, in English sources, “Skolding wife” or “Schoole ground”. In only two sources (PL-Wtm Krakow and S-SK Mörner) the piece is explicitly attributed to Hotman, but in many other manuscripts it is found close to others by the same author, reinforcing the attribution.
